Confederate Coat @ Florida OCHP
Civil War Image Uniform coat of Major William G. Poole
Major Poole was a veteran of the 1st Florida Infantry; an adjutant on General William Hardee's staff; and finally served as an adjutant to Brigadier General William Miller at the Battle of Natural Bridge in March 1865. This coat bears federal-pattern staff officer's buttons, which commonly were worn by Confederate officers. The blue-gray shade of the uniform is called "cadet gray" and was similar to the color of dress uniforms worn by cadets at West Point. (Collections of the Museum of Florida History)
