Olive Commons

Olive Commons (1890–1963), originally from Indiana, was among the first artists to recognize a market for tropical designs. She painted images of Florida scenery on small, porcelain discs she dubbed “cameonas.” Commons showed her work at the 1939 New York World’s Fair where she won the fair’s Highest Award of Merit medal.
