The following teacher and students received awards at the Florida History Fair state competition Awards Ceremony on Saturday, May 3, 2008.

Teacher of Merit

  • Leslie Porges
    American Heritage School, Plantation (Broward County)

Leslie Porges has taught social studies for 17 years. She implemented National History Day in her classroom in 2002 and is responsible for its adoption by other middle and high school educators at her school. In the past five years, 9 of her students' projects have advanced to the national competition. This year, 4 entries from American Heritage School will compete in the national contest.
