William "May" Loring Nunez Spencer

“May” Spencer (d. 1921), was born in St. Augustine. Her family named her after her uncle, William Wing Loring, a Confederate general. She became an actress and performed with a well-known theatrical company, but retired after she married in 1877. In the 1880s, she started writing and authored a number of stories. She later returned to St. Augustine.
