Restoration
When the Union Bank building was threatened with demolition in 1969, a citizens’ campaign organized to save and then restore the building. As awareness grew about the historical significance of the building, banking institutions, civil and historic organizations, private individuals, and school children donated money for the restoration. The Union Bank building exists today because of the determined efforts of the people of Tallahassee and Florida.
